Default Painting bodies

How many of you painted on the outside of your crawler bodies? I’m doing a Jeep Comanche body . Im painting the inside body a solid color. I’ve seen on a forum that someone masked off the area then painted with base coat. Then painted with a textured paint to give a realistic look and feel!

First off, I'd go here for that question:

RCCrawler General Tech - Paint and Body at RCCrawler.com

And here's a specific thread involving that technique:

Flat paint on a Lexan body.

It's a trick used by many people - and you can even modify RTR pre-painted bodies that way.

I've done 2 RTR bodies - on a yellow Chevy pickup cab I first painted the hood black and then masked the windows and painted the rest with matte clear, and on a silver Defender I painted the roof white and after masking the windows did the matte clear again.

Much better looking than stock!

It seems I always paint the outside of my bodies these days. I have come to prefer it. The paint does take more of a beating, however.

I just did that with this project last week. Didn't use a textured paint but a flat clear coat. Turned out pretty good for my first time of doing an inside/outside paint process.
