RCC SEARCH Function Question...

Ok, haven't been able to figure this one out. When using the forum's 'SEARCH', how do you get it to search for multiple words in the same post and not just display every post where one of the search words are found.

Example: If I search for "xr10 battery" how do I get it to just show me posts with BOTH words in it, not all of the posts with EITHER "XR10" OR "battery" in them?

Thanks!

Re: RCC SEARCH Function Question...

Not sure specifically about your question, but the way I usually go about it is to display specific posts and not threads. Then manually go and skim individual posts for content I want.

I see what you are saying. Im not sure you can do it with this search function though. So you are only wanting threads involving a certain keyword instead of a post in a thread having that keyword correct?

Re: RCC SEARCH Function Question...

Actually, I'm looking for posts with BOTH words in them. Usually when I search, I get every post with just ONE of the two words.

So if the search was "xr10 battery" I end up getting every post in the forum with EITHER "xr10" OR "battery". Which is incredibly frustrating because I only want posts with "xr10" AND "battery". If you only get results of "xr10" OR "battery" you are sorting through tons of posts with just the one word and not BOTH which is more helpful because you are looking for posts about the COMBINATION of the two words. Something more specific. Hope that makes sense. LOL

Re: RCC SEARCH Function Question...

I think I just answerd my own question.

To all of you who may have or may not have been dropped on your head as a child like me, make sure you change the "show results as" option on the bottom left of the advanced search function from "THREADS" to "POSTS".

So instead of it searching the ENTIRE THREAD for the combinations of words, it just searches EACH POST for the combination which is much more specific and helpful. Sheesh, only took me a couple of years of searching to figure that one out...

Thanks Meatwad, you had it right, I just can't read...

Re: RCC SEARCH Function Question...

There is absolutely no reason to use any site's own search function. Simply add "site:rccrawler.com"to a search at google and get results only from RCC. Google will automatically prioritize posts which match all search terms.

For example, go type "Bully v2 chaotic switch smash site:rccrawler.com", you should get my build thread 1st, despite the fact that there are tons of threads about the Bully V2s and another ton about the Chaotic Switch Smash.

This works for most sites, I first started using it due to RCU's tragic engine.

Hope that helps.
