| Crawler-ish Exo question.
I'm starting to dial in my Exo for Recon Terra Cross type events, and have been running into issues with the center diff. It keeps killing the small silicone o-rings, which leads to drive cup deflection, and then the internal gears eat themselves. I'm running Hot Racing diff housings on all 3 diffs, standard Axial internal gears, and the stock Axial motor mount. I've seen 2 variants of the Axial mount, and I'm running the one with 2 hex head screws to secure the sliding block. Power comes from a Castle 3900kv & Sidewinder SCT system, on 2S Lipos, with 12/54 gearing. Today's run makes for my 3rd round of gears, shims & o-rings, and I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a fairly stout set up that reduces these problems. Front & rear units are fine, with no signs of serious wear. All wheels & axles turn freely; nothing binding. I was thinking GCM diff housing, and VP motor mount. Any other thoughts or set ups? |

I'd spool the center diff for a terra x type races.

Don't want to spool it/lock it out, since it would transmit all the shock of accelerating & braking directly to the driveline. Ideally, this would be a permanent set up, since if it'll survive a Terra Cross race, it will surely survive day to day & track use.

A. nonsensical. B. barely chirping crickets. Even though it's mainly a short course type of rig, I posted here since the knowledge base is far more varied. And, frankly, when it comes to building things that have to go (kinda quickish), and endure a solid beating, I'll take my chances with the advice of the weirdos over here! | |

The center diff was one of the biggest flaws for the Exo Terra (sMe with my old Losi Ten-SCTE). The GCM diff cups will only replace the plastic diff cup but you'll still have the wobbly drive cup problems. I've heard of VP's motor mount curing some of the wobble but it will still eat up o-rings. Being that it isn't a 1/8th scale racing buggy and it doesn't really need that extra slip, you can lock up the center diff (it'll give you more power anyway). |

I've never had my orings or gears go bad, I run the GCM motor mount with the rest of the drive train stock. Power comes from WP-SC8 with 3500Kv (3660can) motor on 2s and 3s. On the axial blog there is a write up on how they locked the center diff that is completely reversable. I plan on using that for the center and rear diffs in preperation of running my exo in some U4RC type events. I never use it on any track events so I'm not worried about the ill handling that it cause there.
