Default 32 pitch vs. 48 pitch gears

I see some have gone back to the days of old using 32 pitch gears. What's the deal here? The only reason I can think of is strength, which makes sense. On the flip side, I've never had an issue with 48p parts if set up properly. Are the 32p spurs and pinions readily avail. now?

32p has been readily available for years from the 2wd nitro trucks.

Agreed, when not using much motor or voltage the upgrade isn't necessary.

I didn't think about the nitro background. I run 3s with a 27T brushed, but I'm doing trail/crawl stuff, not WOT. Hmmm...

Yep the spurs have the same hole pattern as the axial holder/slipper. 3s sensored brushless here, driven stupidly at times... 32p spurs get spun sometimes as well with a locked drivetrain.

I run 32p gears because I have a ton of them and I like the fact that they hold up to stuff getting in the gears if you don't run a gear cover.

I use 32 pitch on my foff truck as it tolerates sand better and with 3s and a 5700 kV motor 48 pitch doesn't last long. Still have 48 in my scale truck which weighs 10lb and 3s.
