Default drive shaft options

Does anyone have any recomondations for a drive shaft that can handle a fairly sharp angle without binding? I have a wroncho that the stock wild boars just twist something fierce. Ive tried some cheap set ( dont remember brand) that suck. Thanks.

the MIP's have a decent angle BUT you can still get so much of an angle. try clocking your axles some to help a little

Those are static shafts, they dont have any travel at all. They have an adjustable length, but do not function at all like the drive shaft needs to on a crawler.

My rig has a Junfac front and MIP rear. The MIP is bigger and more solid looking. No discernible difference when driving though. Doubt I'd break either before something else let lose. My brother is running full Junfacs with no issues.

Actually if you look at how they are assembled they do have travel and if you guys look in the ax10 sportsman section there a lot of guys using them on their ultra light sportsman shafty builds!!!

8mm or roughly just over 3/10". Not much at all. I saw 2-3 builds running them. I'd stick with MIP for sure

If you guys build your trucks properly, with good geometry and suspension travel, you shouldn't need more than 8mm of slip on the drive lines...

Everyone is ignoring the real problem. Every single driveshaft joint is going to wear out prematurely if run at steep operating angles.

Sounds like you need to either lower the rig, flip the trans, or limit downtravel to save wear and tear on your driveshafts.

I've run both the Junfacs, and the MIP's.

The Junfacs are IMO, junk. The pin in the joint is much smaller than the MIP, it uses dinky 3mm setscrews compared to the MIP's 4mm, the slip section is a D shape, which binds horribly under torque (which kills pinion and trans output bearings), compared the the MIP's precise multi-spline slip section. Spend your money once and get the MIP's.

The only disadvantage to the MIP's is weight. They are probably the heaviest driveshaft option out there.

If you need strong and light then look at using plastic Traxxas Revo shafts with the end yokes drilled out to fit cut down Axial steel yokes (search Maxx Shafts Made Easy). I'm using this mod on a go-slow no-slipper-clutch AX-10 and so far the only bummer is that you basically have to put a dot of superglue on the miniature E-clip that holds the pin in the U-joint. Otherwise it seems like every time you wack the yoke on a rock the E-clip pops off and ends your day.
