Default Helpful insight

Just joined forum but I have been lurking in the shadows for a while. Looking for any and all advice. I have a axial rubicon converted honcho running 2.2 flatirons with novak eiger pro on 3S (love this little esc the adjustments are great). Ran motors as follows.

1 Axial 21T/27T- Quick impression-cheap, not enough torgue for debris (leaves, pin straw) covered hills. Not enough wheel speed for slinging mud.

2 Axial 55t- Strong on 3S but cheap as expected from a 55T not enough wheel speed for sling mud

3 Novak rockstar 35T- ran hot probably due to user error/improper gearing. Good strong motor, but overpriced.

4 Integy lathe 35T- good motor for a decent price but runs hot (17/87 gearing)(2.2 tires and about 8.4lbs)

With this in mind thinking of 13/87 on a Orion modified 21x2 motor.. Will this give me my speed but still allow torque for crawling over roots etc?

I also have a AX10 with a Tekin FX-R (also a sweet little esc) running 2.2 HPI rock grabbers. Cant decide on what motor to use and having a problem when in a jam for torque the passenger side front tire kicks up in the air while the rear drivers side digs in wanting to do a back flip???

FYI I have also been on a journey trying every bit of grease/oil for crawlers (bearings mainly) in wet conditions.
Best-Acergoo for bearings, eureka pro lube for gears aeroshell 33 on anything with metal to metal contact (CVD) and royal purple synfilm (also a great lube for speed bearings maybe better than acer SIN) on joints, pivot points.

Sorry for being so sporadic.... excitement and OCD...

Try dropping the gear ratio on the 35t, I run one in my 2.2s and it has a good mix of speed and torque. Only issue I have is it really draws the mahs.

I tried a 13T pinion but it lacked the speed I was looking for. Not sure how well the Orion would do as its more for touring not crawling but would like to give it a go without destroying it.
