Default packing and mailing the tiny trucks

I tried to UTFSE, but the first couple pages of results were just ads.

I'm moving next week, and I've packed most of my toys in my 1:1 and put it on a hauler.

I kept my main rig, and had a 1:8 gas truck get added to the equation. Originally, I was just going to mail the battery and bring the wraith in my carry-on, and now I'm thinking maybe I should mail them.

What methods have you guys used when shipping?

I'm thinking of taking cardboard and doubling it up, drilling holes in it, and zip tying the axles down. Maybe putting a layer of packing kibble/peanuts under the board, some paper, then more packing kibble on top.

Is this overkill? Not enough? It's 2 trucks, so 2 packages. Even if I sent it parcel post, the slow boat, I'm probably looking at ~$60-80 for both.

As I continue to ship more items (business) I find myself reducing the amount of packaging I do. Not because I'm cheap or have started caring less but rather a lot of packaging isn't always necessary. When I purchase things online I can tell if I'm buying from a "regular guy" or somebody who ships regularly. The regular guy always over packages.

I wouldn't worry too much since your trucks are designed to take some abuse naturally. Home Depot sells cheap boxes. A single box should be fine. Make sure nothing will leak and batteries and such are take under proper considerations. For filler I use "builder's paper". You can find rolls of paper in the paint isle of Home Depot or Lowes.

For larger and heavier packages FedEx tends to be considerably cheaper than USPS.
