| TZi World winch mount
I've put a few hours into this mount to be used on my 1/6th scale Jerp. I previously had a 1/8th scale 3R Racing winch on the 14 lb. pig, needless to say it didn't do a whole lot. After watching the Vid from TZi World on his winches, I knew I needed one them. Supershafty is carrying them now, so I snagged one. Once I opened the envelope, I was impressed with the overall fit and finish. Nothing but quality with this product. I set out to see how close the mounting bolt pattern was between the 2 different products. They were off enough that I had to do something to keep a clean install look. This mount I designed uses the existing holes from the 3R racing winch, plus it incorporates a fair lead of sorts. I plan on printing out one of these in a few days. I'll post up on how well it works. |

Good work... How does it fit into the chassis? |

| Re: TZi World winch mount Thanks! Here's a few pics. I have to make a few more minor tweeks to the 3D model, then print another part. The inter-active 3D modeling has really shown what a time saver it is to be able to "assemble" parts on the screen to find small issues before anything is made. The winch looks tiny on this big Jerp! |

I would have made the area around the top of that fairlead quite a bit thicker for when you are in a nose down situation. I like the principal of the idea though |

Looks good any reason why you have the fairlead so high, could you run the winch line off the bottom of the spool and lower it.

Now I need to find some Dacron fishing line in the 150-200 # test range to spool up on this bad boy. I decided to spool off of the top because the drum fits snugly into the curved shape in the housing on the bottom side. I didn't want the line to rub against the housing, even though it has a nice smooth fillet surface in that area. Last edited by BigSki; 06-09-2014 at 06:51 PM. | ||

Version 2. I'm liking this. I'm going to send the file to Shapeways and see how much to print one in metal. There's too much work to use the mill to make just one copy. Last edited by BigSki; 06-14-2014 at 08:57 PM. |
