If John is really out of the game, I would consider running a few hundred. I know a lot of my team runs em.

I am really hurtin for some of these little buggers. I think he had a run of mild steel bushings that may be a good option as well.

I think it need to be softer than the cross, i think brass or aluminium would be better choice.

| Re: SDS super 300hd bush 300M is considerably harder than mild steel, but yes, once the cross is worn then you are screwed. CTM, builder of 1:1 300M u-joints, uses a bronze sleeve insert in their caps so I wonder if bronze caps would work well for our purpose? The brass ones never last long for me and I know aluminum would be toast in no time.

| Re: SDS super 300hd bush Thanks for offering John! Like I said I would take 20 right of the top. I'm sure there are other out there looking for solutions aswell! I don't think you would be sitting on these if you did.

I need a few sets as well, mine are on the way out too. After the NWSC event (first run on them) mine were already getting loose. Now I barely run the truck due to the bushings. I'd like to see some mild steel bushings myself, bronze would be my second choice. I think the correct lube and keeping them clean is the important part in regard to longevity. |

OK, this is off topic but Super 300 related. Can anybody tell me how to or what to use to drill out an Axial ring gear?? I bought a set of 300's in like new condition with the locker but when I went to assemble a new front axle the dang shaft won't fit thru the ring gear. AHHHH! A little assistance please. |

Slow sped on the lathe or drill press with a carbide bit. I use a 1/4" pilot bit ( I think that is what it is called) has a small drill tip and the rest of the bit is 1/4" diameter it is not a standard box store bit that is 3 inches long or so...it is only 2" long max. I have also used step drill bits (the type electricians use) with some success, and I say some. Lots of pressure applied is needed, drill press is the way to go with these. If you get it to hot the bit is shot and the piece is harder than is was to start with. If you don't have access to those tools, I would see if a vendor on here can do it for you. Good luck |
