Default Crawler ESC programing

Hi, I relatively new to electric RC and am struggling getting the programing right for my rock crawler. I am using a HH TorqueMaster with a 45T brushed motor with a Spectrum DX4S Radio.

What annoys me is that every time i go to neutral the car brakes abruptly! I have seen configurations with other crawlers where they go from forward to reverse to brake and then to neutral and THEN to reverse for the car to reverse.

There are so many settings for programming such as:
Quiet Mode
Reverse Throttle
Drag Brake
Throttle Up/down Damping
...

Is there anywhere an explanation what these settings all do and how they effect the handling of the car?

Thanks again for the help
Lothar

It's the drag brake doing that. You can turn down the drag brake if you have it up too high. But on the other hand, not enough of it and your rig will roll on hills when you don't want it to.

You should really play with all the settings and then run it just to see how these things effect the way it drives.

Part of its the settings and part of its your driving style. When the drag brake is set high enough to hold the rig on a hill you can't just drop the throttle at full speed. Driving a crawler isn't like driving a go fast buggy. You have to learn to roll off the throttle slowly. If I drop the throttle suddenly in my wraith at speed it will endo and cartwheel for 50 feet. Not good. I know this so when slowing down from 20+mph I roll off the throttle in a controlled manner. Sure I could reduce the drag brake to the point where I could stop without using my brain but then the low speed crawling is going to suffer.
