Question I'm getting confused with gearing

Ever since it started getting hot here in Alabama, I have been going on a rollercoaster with the gearing on my Wraith hybrid.

Specs:

Hyperion 6.5T sensored motor
MMP
3300mah 3S 50C lipo
Mickey Thompson 2.2 TTCs (5.75" tall)
38/13 axle gearing right now (Moving to Overdrive in the front later this week)

Right now, my pinion and spur gearing is 54/12 (32P) which equals 40:1; WAYYY too overgeared.

After about 10 minutes of calculating some gear ratios, I have come up what I would think would be a good gearing combo, actually 2.

-Scenario 1
58/17= 3.4117
*3 Transmission ratio
*2.92307692 Axle ratio

29.9185:1

-Scenario 2
54/18= 3
*3
*2.92307692 Axle ratio (38/13)

26.3076:1

So, are any of these scenarios in the ball park? Or do I need to work closer to a lower final drive ratio?

Thanks for any help!

A 58/11 combo would increase the final drive ratio to 46.2377 (motor revolutions to one rotation of the tire) which is higher than what I'm currently running.

"higher" #, but lower geared at the wheels....bigger the ratio, lower/slower it is.

Okay, I think I've got it squared away. I was going to wrong way with my spur gear.

With the gearing I have available, I can do a 54/8 or 54/10

54/8=6.75
6.75*3=20.25
20.25*2.92307692= 59.1923:1 Final drive gear ratio. Too low maybe?

54/10=5.4
5.4*3=16.2
16.2*2.92307692=47.3538:1

I run mostly 16/87 and it depends what motor you have. You need to keep a eye on the temp of the motor. If too hot, hear gear down to a lower pinion.

87/16 is the same as 54/10, 32p is more durable however. I've found as well that anything between 5:1-6:1 at the spur/pinion is about right for an axial drivetrain.

The axial transmission is 2.6:1. Not the 3:1 that you keep doing your math with.
