Don't paint the cage. They always end up looking like ass after a few trips out.

Remove the driveshafts, shim the pinion as needed, reinstall the driveshafts.

She is built and she is mean so far I have broken a drive shaft and CVD axle. So now I have to wait until I get back from NYC to get a set of mip drive shafts.

If you can't do any crawling with it, what's the point of using it in a rock-crawler? Sure the Wraith is faster and more top-heavy than a competition-grade crawler, but it should still be capable of climbing over stuff at low speed.

I put a Team Orion Method Pro 20T brushed motor in mine. Basically a higher-quality version of the stock motor. Thus far I like it; it's a little faster and makes noticeably more torque than the stock motor, and it doesn't need any fancy electronics to make it run smooth.

This is true. Changing ESCs on some of my vehicles almost completely eliminated the cogging they used to exhibit.

Still, a motor will run smoothest if the power distributor knows exactly what the spindle's rotational position is at all times. Sensored brushless motors do that electronically, and brushed motors do it mechanically with the commutator. Sensorless brushless will never, ever be as smooth, though it does have the best performance-per-dollar ratio of the three options.

Are those the 32-pitch gears I hear people talking about from time to time? Does Axial also offer 32-pitch gears? I ask because Hot Racing parts are kinda hit-or-miss in terms of quality control.

Don't feel bad. I burned out my ESC doing something much simpler. All I had to do was solder the freaking battery plug on with the correct polarity, and I didn't even do that right. 75 dollar careless mistake.

Castle is sending me a new one and the reason I am running a 3800 kv motor is because I run open class so the faster I get over the rocks I can keep up with them

I didn't say it wouldn't crawl (it does), it just doesn't have super fine low speed control that you would find with brushed or sensored.

Agreed, but it really depends on how smooth you really need. If its worth the extra hundred or two to be ultra smooth, then go for it. If its not a huge concern, don't worry about it.

I guess I'm gonna have to put a video together to prove my point...
