Default wanna go slow suggestion on esc

I have a custom built chassis somewhat wraith and a little custom. 80 turn motor works really well and I love calculated driving using contact pressure and finesse more than speed but it seems the factory wraith esc might be a little mismatched for the 80 turn. Any suggestions on a better esc. The stock esc does well until I minor bind and the ramp voltage just isn't there so it just stalls the motor. It's a cheap motor from eBay so that may be my problem but figured I would ask if anyone knows a better option.

What's your gear ratio? How slow do you want to go? I run a team brood 35t on 3s Lipo with 87/12 gears on my crawler. I will be changing to a lower gear ratio but no need to go with an 80t.

Must comp motors are built for torque and not speed so a lower turn, higher quality motor will perform completely different from your current setup.

I assume the low quality materials in your motor are causing the glitching/stalling but I could be wrong. That ESC will work just fine on most applications

Gear ratio is stock wraith. I want literally as slow as possible that's why I went with an 80 turn for curiosity. I have a couple rigs and this 80 turn setup is amazing and will out crawl anything I have just frustrating when it stalls when I undercut a tie that will climb if it had more punch.

Easy and cheap answer. Change your gears. Smallest pinion that will fit and the largest spur that will fit....96/12, something in that area. May stop the stalling too.

Are yiu stalling due to lack of power or is the ESC actually cutting out and the motor dies?

Isn't stock 20/87? Stock Scorpion gearing was 14/87, drop down to that, or 12/87, and I think you'll be a whole lot happier.

I agree your ESC should be fine.

If the gear change doesn't cure it, I suspect it will help but not cure, you will need a motor built for torque. A cheap 80t is no match for a quality 35-45t. Way more efficient, more torque and will last much longer!!

Can't expect high torque based on high turn numbers alone but you can expect low RPM based on high turn numbers. Low RPM doesn't mean high torque...not a direct relation.

Good info. My buddy had a 35t Holmes hobby motor and he crawls very well. Just curiosity about the 80t was the only reason but if it doesn't work I'll go a different direction.
