How to measure for SLW hubs?

OK, the Yeti release seems to have dumped a whole bunch of us newbies into the world of SLW style hubs. I've searched pretty hard & cannot seem to find a definitive answer to how to actually measure a hub.

I'm not looking for "what hubs do I need for my Yeti", but for how do you actually measure an SLW hub? I get that the .225, .350, .475, etc represents an offset, & that they space a nice even .125 (1/8") apart. What I don't get is what is that measurement exactly? Is it the offset from the hex flange to the wheel flange? Or is it something else?

Seems a simple question, but I can't find anything definitive on the net. Even a hex surface to wheel mount surface measurement on one known size would be a nice start (since they are that nice even 1/8" apart).

If you put it on the table 6 bolt pattern facing down, it is in inches, the measurement from the top of the hub to the flat face that mates with the wheel (the six holes surface).

So it's the red lines below? How deep is the hex surface? (blue line measurement?)

No not the red lines, it's from the inside of the hub area that touches the hex to the outside of the hub where wheel touches

So in your pic from the bottom of blue line to the lower red line.

What a coincidence I was just looking for this info. What's the SLW equivalent of stock Axial 2.2's ?

This is what I originally thought, but looking at pictures doesn't seem right.

Looking at the .225 hubs, it doesn't seem like there's .225" of space there. Looks to just almost overlap each other.

Maybe something a little more visual-

This is a 600 hub

Re: How to measure for SLW hubs?

Perfect, thank you sir. "thumbsup"

How deep is the recess for the hex's? (Which would allow the average newb to say my current pin drive is "X" from the pin to the WMS, AN SLW with hex will be "Y"

Re: How to measure for SLW hubs?

I measured both a 225 hub and a 600 hub and the hex areas (your blue line) both measure 0.156

I apologize I didn't have a set in front of me and I thought last I measured it was from hex..... At least it's settled for you:&

Re: How to measure for SLW hubs?

Well, as best as I can tell, the stock axial adapters would equate out to a .7985 & a .286 (measurements made assuming the SLWs are mounted with axial aluminum hexes)

Hopefully this helps someone else along the way

Good info! Thanks y'all!!

Can someone that has the wider widths show the measurements ? I've already spent $30 on a full set of too narrow ones. This is a .225 labeled one.

Re: How to measure for SLW hubs?

Your measuring it wrong. But you'll probably need a .450" hub.

Re: How to measure for SLW hubs?

I see that now. Do the numbers mean inches or ? If I know that I'll be able to know exactly how much wider each size is and get the right ones next.

Just figured it out and answered my own question about the differences. Thanks

Instead of buying another 30 bucks in slw hubs, find some slw spacer. Gear head (rpp hobby) and dlux make some.

I'm on it. Didn't even know they existed. Hell with me truck driving over the road this year I feel like I'm getting behind of what's new. Well, I am apparently. Honest thanks for that.

Ya no problem. A lot of people dont know about the spacers so your not the only one. I run them on everything now. Lol.
