Default Losi night crawler transmission

hi all

I am just wanting to know if there is any chance of making the losi night crawler transmission the same speed of an axial scx10 transmission by gearing it down?

I plan to run it on a 35t motor and I will be running the ax10 axles, I have both sitting at home but thought I should ask the experts before pulling everything apart!

Thanks heaps

Jayden

Not easily.
LNC transmission motor to drive shaft is typically 3:1. The Axial is more like 30:1.
What you might do is to add a planetary gear box between the motor and tranny.

Ok so I am going to use a 65t motor and am now wondering what size pinion I need, I am thinking I need around an 11t pinion?

The LNC tranny use a 20T pinion (2.4:1 transmission gearing) for its 35T motor.
You'd need more like a 2T (or maybe 3T) pinion to get a suitable gearing for for axial axles, and that's impossible!
(12T pinion, the smallest possible to fit, gives 4.2:1 gearing, which is soo not sufficient for your needs.)

I have tried a 10t pinion in a 48p and it is still too fast but not by much at all

What's the motor temp with that gearing?
My experience is that with high gear the motor will just work harder and produce more heat instead of speed.
Gearing down the vehicle speed stays (about) the same but the motor runs with less effort.
