Default Things have changed.

I was looking for a winter project and started rc shopping. After a few clicks i ended up on this site. Made me wonder why i ever sold my crawler. Things have changed a bit though. My first build was with tlt axles. New V-Dub

Back then there was a lot less options it seemed like. Now you have crawler and trail trucks and then rock racers. Its all a bit confusing but ill do some reading and catch back up. Out of all the rc stuff i have done , crawling was the funnest!

I know for sure i atleast want a kit. Spending time building is a big part of the fun for me. I guess ill look at axial maybe and see if they have anything i like. I really like the looks of the scale trail trucks, but being able to climb anything is nice with a true crawler. Seems like there is plenty of options so ill get to it!

Your last rig was SW2 based, even the RTR scale rigs from RC4WD and Axial (excluding leaf sprung) these days can climb better than your old comp rig! I don't have any Vaterra rigs yet, but they are getting things done too.

RTR Wraiths with proper tires and foams and a lithium battery under the hood will walk sections that my sw2 had serious trouble climbing back in the day. It's great!

Owning one of almost everything that is available myself, I'd suggest to anyone coming back into the hobby to pick up a Wraith

So is the wraith basically a true crawler and the SCX is more of what would fit into a scale class. I do like the looks of the scale trucks so i think i would probably go with a SCX. If the local crawling group has a class for it.

Im sure everything would smoke my old bug.lol. It was really fun at the time to build though. I am probably wrong but it seemed like back then the hobby was really just starting to take off.

A wraith is a scale rig too, there is a full size version it was modeled from. The SCX10 is a smaller rig with 1.9 wheels, the Wraith a larger with 2.2s.

Cant go wrong with a Wraith. There are plenty of Trail and Scale comps you can go to with it, basically all of em.

Ok thanks John I was confused on the difference. My local club says they do a 1.9 winter class so maybe that will help me make my decision.

I have a lot of re-learning to do!

Welcome back to the madness,

ditto on what others have said, just keep reading on here and checking out the various builds. You will most likely end up with one of each anyway . Then when you get bored you can switch the axles from one to the other for a "wroncho" and a "wraith 1.9". Google those two for some nice builds.

Cheers,
Wade

Don't forget you can take a Wraith and put 1.9's on it.

Alright i have an axial deadbolt headed this way. I would have prefered a kit, but tower had this one on sale for 250.00 RTR. That was too good to pass up. Thanks for all the help and advice!!
