center pig rear axle
Is there anyone running a center pig axle on the rear of a wraith. If so how do you like it and what good benifets does it have?

Re: center pig rear axle
Yea I saw same style post a week or so ago....... Posted a pile of pigs picture........ been all over the US and have never hear it called a pig. Pumpkin yes...... Pig, hog, boss hog, bo and Luke duke, daisy duke, cooter, uncle Jessie, miss piggy, Kermit, the fonz, Dr Doolittle, Mr magoo, santas little helper....... No.
Centered input rear axle....... Yep, there is a bunch around. Benifits, looks more scale, some can't drive well with the offset housing so they like centered more. I'm sure Harley can opinionate some on stregnth of axles..... Long vs short vs med in legnth, but I'm sure there is not a huge difference Last edited by JokersWild; 01-11-2015 at 10:29 AM. |

Re: center pig rear axle
Ive spent 20+ years in heavy truck and have yet to hear it called a pig. I've dealt with shops all across the country and this is the first time ive heard it. Anyways i dont think it matters if its centered, offset, or upside down. Ive ran both and prefer the offset housing on a wraith width axle less chance to hi center on the axle.

Re: center pig rear axle
LOL I grew up in Ohio and we called the rear ends that have the pinion gear and differential that pull out of the front of the rear end as one assembly the PIG. I always assumed it was an abbreviation for something (Pinion Integrated Gear or something?) I know some people call it the chunk too. Here's a few books and articles which call it that to show that we aren't completely crazy.
