RC4WD Sub Zero

Hi,

I have the Subzero chassis and want to built it with SCX10 gear and axial wraith axles. Looking at the chassis I am not sure that I can fit the gear and I can see more and more question on the location of each part.
Does anyone built it with axial parts?
Any build link or pictures?

Thanks for you help

Udi Gavish

Wraith axle width is a definite bonus. D44's would look sweet.
You are limited to a front tranny and tcase. It was designed with the T1 Tanny and Tcase, di they are a drop in.

Share the build when you start

I just picked up one of these. Its built on axial ar-60 axles. I haven't tried to put the axial gear box in it yet but it looks to me like there's enough room to mount it under the tunnel. I'd have to fab a new skid but I think it's possible. The tunnel in the subzero is larger than the lexan tunnel in my wraith.

Re: RC4WD Sub Zero

Thx for your answer. With the recommended gear and transmission and brushed 540 motor (35T) does the subzero will be in a walking speed so it will be suitable also for trail (5mph)?

I would like to order all the relevant parts for the gear and transmission including the punisher shaft, platen skid (to bolt the gear), screw and everything that is related. Can you help with the part list?

Thx,

Udi

Re: RC4WD Sub Zero

I just got mine yesterday. But the pinion I have won't work, so I don't know about the wheel speed as of yet. I'm waiting on a new pinion to arrive. I'm using the punisher planetary tranny and transfer case. And a short punisher shaft between the two. And traxxas maxx shafts to the axles. As for the axles I made links out of 8/32 all thread and 1/4" steel brake line. Another thing I ran into was the stock servo location on the Wraith axles was hitting the motor, so u used a dinky rc servo mount to get the servo lower to allow the front suspension to compress. Its still on the bench, not finished yet. I hope to have it going by next week sometime.

I got the axial gear box fitted. Simple really. I tried the punisher planetary and transfer case, waaay to slow for me. Even with a 3300kv brush less on 3s. [emoji15] So this is what I came up with.

Ignore my messy wiring. I'm gonna clean it up before long.

How slow are we talking? Just wondering because I just got one of these bad boys. I just don't want to wait a week for it to get across my yard.

Slower than walking speed. Not near enough speed to bump over logs or up a slick creek bank. Putting the axial tranny in was super easy. Much nicer. And much quieter. Also frees up much needed real estate for electronics under the hood.
