The Vaterra Ascender is fairly new.

Two good suggestions already. I know you said don't want SCX, but I'd go for the Deadbolt SCX.

I like the look of the Ascender over the the Telluride and it's way more scale.

Not sure why you don't want an SCX10 because they're great do it all trucks. And there is enough aftermarket support to turn the truck into whatever you want.

I'm a huge fan of the GMade Sawback. It's a leaf spring rig that is rock solid. The only parts I ever have issues with are the leaf springs. Sometimes I bend them.

The Ascender looks like a great truck, but it seems like people get bored with them and there is little aftermarket support.

Yep. Don't let the solid-axle boys tell you otherwise -- the Telluride is a great trail-truck with a few key mods: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/traxx...telluride.html. It's not the *only* great trail-truck, of course, but it is one of them, and it stands out in a crowd of SCX10s.
