Default Where to start?!

Been away from the crawler aspect of the hobby for a few years now.At that time the XR10 had just come out.I had purchased most of VP upgrades and so forth..Life went by and I sold it all off unfortunetly.Fast forward till now and I am wondering which Crawler would make a comparable platform..I loved the XR10 but it seems not to be very popular anymore..Need somewhere to start

Im very new to crawling and just picked up a used wraith and it's awesome, but I keep reading that the axial scx10 is a pretty good out of the box competitor.

I have no idea why the XR10 should not be popular anymore. I wanted to buy it when suddenly they had stopped making them. Until now there is no real alternative (in my opnion). And yes Oldbugs, both the SCX and Wraith are hardly options.
Losi's compcrawler isn't on the market anymore. The GMade R1 is fun, but in a different league (lower).

As soon as Axial comes with an alternative, i buy it.

Your basically picking up a chassis and links from one of the vendors, then pick what axles you want to run. RC4WD Bully2's are great axles that need no mods, Dlux and ClassiCutCustoms would be your other choice with their version of Berg based axles. XR10's can still be found, however getting parts for those are getting hard to find.

Interesting on the XR10..Seemed like a decent enough platform as far as somewhere to start..

Looks like I will start with the Bully2 for axles then..Any suggestions on which chassis, links, tires, wheels for a good start up..I plan on building a course for winter in my buds garage. We are starting out with nothing but a little bit of basic knowledge that I have acquired from this great site but it has been awhile..Lots of reading and spending to do..Thanks for the replies

Are you planning on comping with this truck or is it just for personal enjoyment?

We have a club here in the lower mainland (LMRCC) and we'd be more than happy to show off our trucks and answer any questions you may have on the build.
