I'm also interested in hearing/seeing a comparison!

Exclamation The moment you've all been waiting for...

Had a little time to tear down both rear axles (fronts were exactly the same story) and give hopefully a good comparison between the RC4WD K44 and the eBay K44.

Here they are side by side. The only differences is the color of the diff cover and the diff cover branding.

You can tell by the ball-end mill marks that this is the RC4WD K44.

Here is the extremely well casted eBay K44.

eBay K44 inner guts (Alot more shiny than the RC4WD K44, hopefully that equals to the same or better parts wear).

RC4WD K44 inner guts

One thing that I have noticed, and this is the ONLY difference, is that the eBay K44s seem to have more of an outer bearing "cap" to protect it better against the elements- the RC4WD K44 doesn't have this extra bit (2nd picture).

Overall, I will give these eBay K44s my seal of approval and a incredible alternative to the questionably expensive RC4WD K44s. Going by these pictures, Sometimes it does pay off to pay less.

If anyone has any other questions, please post them up! I'll do my best to answer them.

Will the rc4wd diff cover fit the eBay ones?

Yes they will! Everything will work with the other axle. Gears are the same, axle shafts, bearings, diff covers housing...

For my application, they wont be subjected to total abuse. Any scale axle just isn't built for that, but I do expect it to perform and hold up just as well as the RC4WD K44.

If they can hold up under a trail rig I'm happy. These aren't ultra4 axles.

They will definitely handle a trail rig with ease.

Does the added lip that captures the bearing at the end of the eBay k44 have a potential to interfer with the pin and hex?

Also, no differences on the front axle knuckles? If there was issues in casting I figure that is where it would show up.

No at all. There is still plenty of clearance for the pin and a wide hex.

I'll check again, but as far as I remember, everything is casted very very well to mimic the RC4WD K44. Actually, the eBay K44 doesn't have the up and down slop that the RC4WD K44 has.

LOL awesome.

Look forward to your review.

edit, didn't see page 2. Im happy to see something to hopefully drive some prices down. Generally I wouldn't mind but when parts break and a local hobby shop can't afford to carry every spare part for the 15 axles RC4wd makes.... it sucks. Especially when RC4wd decides to discontinue the axle.
