Default 3 Link Set-up Question

I've been researching and can't find an answer....When building a Panhard / 3 link front suspension, does it matter which side the upper third link goes to?

Thanxs.

Typically on the rc crawlers it's on the opposite side of where steering drops down for cms off chassis. Reason being is for clearance.
