Default P-L Power Strokes..am I missing something?

Yet another pesky question....well two actually.

First question-bought a set of Power Stroke Slash rears, installed oil and found them to have a "dead" spot where the shaft could easily slide in/out 1/8 to 3/16" or so before getting any dampening action, I found the piston would float on the shaft, the lock nut wasn't tight against the piston and it could move freely-the fix was obvious.

Second question-I had intentions of installing these on a Wraith and found the shock caps wouldn't accept any ball's I had (insert joke here)

Am I missing something?
Should the piston float on the shaft?
Is there a bushing you guys use in the shock cap?

I hesitate to drill the hole out to fit a ball, but if that's what is expected I'm good with that.

Proline sells a mount kit, or I believe you can use slash shock balls for it. Although don't quote me on that specifically.

PowerStroke SC Universal Shock Mounting Hardware Kit | Pro-Line Racing

I drilled mine long before the kit came out. It works but it's far from ideal.

The piston should not float on the shaft. It's been a while since I've had mine apart, is there an e clip on the bottom?

No e-clip, just a shoulder, washer, piston, washer and nut, the shaft threads were barely to the nylon in the lock nut!

I think I'l just drill em, I don't think I'l have to remove too much material.

I barely bumped mine with whatever the next size up in my index was correct. I want to say it was 1/4, maybe a size F. It's been over 3 years since I've done this. I just measured the OD of the shoulder on wraith shock bushings and made it just slightly smaller than that.

I use fuel tubing as a bushing on shock caps without built in ball cups.

Same here for my STRC caps for the Slash rear Ultra shocks on my 1.9 Wraith.
