| i did that. all you need to do is get plasti dip, liqhid tape or a balloon to seal the electronics. btw you dont have to seal the motors. just be shure to clean them |

| I've never water proofed my rig because my chassie is wide open but I would think with the stock chassie it would not be that hard. Bronco is right about the motors but just to help keep things cleaner I would try and seal the axles as best as possible. This is what I would do. Start with the axles and work your way up. Use some rubberized RTV or some thing similar and seal the axle vents closed. With the front axle there are the slots where the hubs turn into, you can't seal these closed so you have to open the axle and grease where the shafts go threw. Do the same with the rear axle shafts. Grease only repels water so some is going to get in the axles. If you don't use HIGH gear that much I would remove the switch and seal the opennings. With the chassie I would snip off the little nubs on the blue suspension parts and seal the bean shaped holes. The rest of the chassie can be sealed up real good the only place of concern is the battery compartment. The battery should be fine if it gets wet. If you don't change the band on the radio ever I would just seal the whole switch. Like I said, I've never done it but I hope this gives you some ideas. | when i attempted to waterproof my first 1:6, i hotglued the vents on the axles, removed the on/off switch and hotglued over the hole, and made some snorkels for the axles that ran up into the chassis..... the snorkels really weren't necessary, because there isn't much heat buildup in these things.... it helped, but it still let water in the ends of the axles, and there was nothing i could do about it....i wanted to find some seals that would fit in the ends of the axles, but never could find any..... i want to build a "trail rig" that can crawl, play in mud/water, and play in sand, but i dont see it being 100% possible with a nylint, neither 1:6 or 1:18... |
