Default Does anyone build their shafty to be light?

I've been slowly building a crawler king into a ladder chassis'd crawler, and it's at about 4lbs 5oz right now with 6oz of weight in each front tire. I like having a light rig, and was wondering if anyone else is going this route.

Also, who makes good foams for a light rig?

Oh man better put that thing on a diet!! Theres quite a few sub 4lb rigs in the ax10 section. Hittman has one of my fav's, sweet little build and 3lb 4 oz. Check them out! Your down there though man, nice work

Plenty of guys build lighter rigs, but it's all in what you want to do with it and how you want to run it...

I prefer a heavier rig.... But I'm more on the scale side of things. I think a little more ass helps the suspension work more like a 1:1 - But that's just me. My last build weighs in at a burly 8.7 lbs, but it's not a comp crawler lol.

It's all in where you put it too!

I try to run my rigs as light as possible but things dont always play out that way....my scalers are 7ish lbs want them to be around 5 but also want a scale performance....no my 2.2 pro weights in right at 4lbs and my 2.2 sporty is 3lbs 5oz like having the weight lower on my comp rigs cause it fits my driving style.....to each there own though

My pro rig is considered heavy at 4.2 lbs rtr, and my shafty is considered heavy at 4.3 rtr. Use crawler innovations double deuce comp cut foams for light rigs. You probably want the soft outer for the front and medium outer for the rear. The size of the foams depends on the tires you like to run.

Both my 2.2M and 2.2S rigs are around 4.5lbs they work well. always looking to cut more weight seems to me every cut ounce = a 100.00 bill... lol

Thanks guys!

I want it to be a decent crawler, but I also want a certain scale element to it, like the ladder chassis, so that I can still run it at scale events. I have a 7lb creeper that I run already, but I want to see what I can do with a light rig.

I will look at the c.i. double deuce foams, thanks!

Both my rigs are comp crawlers not scale. Weights between comp rigs & scale rigs I'm not sure they will be comparable.
I'd say a scale rig would weigh more.
When you asked about a shafty rig I thought of a 2.2s comp crawler not a scale rig.-
