They are completely different, so it's like comparing apples to oranges. The OMEs are narrow-bodied, internally sprung shocks that are designed to provide much more scale proportions and looks than shocks like the Proline Scalers. But those looks come at the expense of making the shocks much less tunable than a larger-bodied coil-over shock like the Prolines. The OMEs and similar shocks (like the Superlifts) work very well as dampers on a leaf sprung rig (with internal springs removed), which is how I run them. On a linked rig where they need to both support the weight of the rig and supply damping, they won't perform as well as a good coil-over. The optional spring assortment for OMEs will help, but you still won't get the same performance that you'd get from a good coil-over.

Among RC4WD shocks, the King Scalers and RRD Emulsions are much more comparable to the Proline Scalers. I've haven't yet tried an all out, side-by-side comparo of my Proline Scalers vs. Kings and RRDs (I have all 3). But from what I've seen in my rigs, you can get very similar performance from all 3 with the right tuning.

Yes, so pretty much pick the ones you like the looks of and of course based on how you're going to use them....with leaf springs or linked suspension and coil-overs. I love having all this options available for our builds in 2016!
