| clocking knuckles and chubs
im setting up rear steering on my u4 rig and im not sure how to clock the rear chubs and knuckles.. should they just be parallel, opposite the front, or angled parallel to the front? my front chubs are clocked back so my tires lean up when they turn. ill be going about 15 mph tops so what should i do |

slight neg. caster both Fr/Rr negative caster is the upper C.hub lobe leaning more rearward then it's lower lobe. C.hub(s) positioned straight up and down is 0 caster at slower speeds this choice is acceptable. But it's preferred to have any amount of - caster that can be had. too much might not be so good... but I know these rigs cannot net that much - caster out the box. might even think to set the rear steer so the tires toe in slightly when rolling forward. not too critical at slower speeds... but if rolling a little faster the rear will stay better inline with the front. it's only a slight toe probably not noticed by visual inspection Last edited by TacoCrawler; 02-23-2016 at 08:49 PM. |

thanks! so just to be clear the chubs should be leaning backwards? im running xr10 f9 housings so i can clock the as far as i want. so toe in barely and clock the rear the same as i clock the front yes? generally i toe out the front just barely, thats good too right?

nearest 0* if you want the steering to be perfectly equal in both forward and reverse. But most folk don't spend a whole lot of time rolling around in reverse !? Lol ~I'd think~ Quote:
at slower speeds. Not something one would want if running at higher speeds Ideally, the least amount of front or rear toe in angle works best. but the fun is to try your own thing and see what works best for you. Last edited by TacoCrawler; 02-23-2016 at 09:37 PM. | ||
