Default Gearing question same ratio different tooth counts?

Will going from a 84T spur and 20T pinion to a 52T spur and 12T pinion cause heat issues? I like the 4.2 ratio that I got from my 48P setup. However going to 32P it looks like I'm dropping in tooth count on both the spur and pinion.

Ratios being the same means the heat will remain the same too.

you are dropping teeth on both, 32 pitch gears have larger teeth, so tooth count with similar ratios and similar diameter spur and pinion gears will be lower than with 48 pitch

For some reason I picture the smaller pinion spinning faster which would cause more heat. I suppose I'm just over thinking it?

Yea you're over thinking it. The slight reduction in mass isn't going to be noticed by the motor. If we were talking about a 420 tooth spur and 100 tooth pinion then you'd have something to worry about. But alas were dealing with small and light components.

So is the RRP 58T Wraith spur worth it? Will it fit under the stock cover?

The 58 tooth spur should fit. I was messing with a spare trans last night with a supershafty "ultimate" motor plate that uses a wraith/scx gear cover and found that a 66 tooth spur certainly won't allow for the cover to fit. The 56 tooth Robinson slipper fits under the cover so 58 shouldn't be an issue.
