ok this got brought up and the recent mwrca comp. and im sure has been brought up elsewhere. but nothing has ever really been resolved. why cant we have 4wheel steering in the 2.2 class? we're allowed digs but not every one has them or wants one. so can we run 4wheel steering on our 2.2s and maybe get penalized like when we reverse or roll over. we had 2 spots at our last comp that 4wheel steering could have really helped on and cut down on rollover and reverse penalties. so i guess my question is can we use it and be penalized or are we stuck with 2 wheel steering

He is your rules committee rep. He should have been able to explain it to y'all, if he followed along in the thread that the committee discussed it in. The committee is split so there can't be a tie, & the majority rules. Also everyone knows, locally, the rules can be modified as seen fit, to suit the circumstances... As Fish say's: "...to be the best, you've got to beat the best. Nationals is were the best compete, and these will be part of the National Rules." To answer your Q. Your stuck w/ 2 wheel steering at the Nat's. | |

Really the 2.2's are more fun with 2ws anyway. I haven't noticed a lack of capibility when switching from 4ws to 2ws, you just have to adjust your driving style. I don't really agree with the dig thing either, but majority wins, and as they say "Think, adapt, overcome- but stop whining first."

it'll definatly get you to do some work on the front end too. after taking the rear steer off my tlt the radius sucked. since have added fat rock c-hubs, alu knuckles and waiting on the cvd's or grind down the stub shafts.

After seeing Dig used, it can really cut corners down. And a Dig setup takes much more skill to install then rear steer does, meaning fewer people will use it. Which gives those drivers a unfair advantage. I will probably install it on my truck since it is allowed, and it will be needed to remain in the top rankings now. But I also strongly feel that the 2.2's do not need rear steer at all. If your truck lacks steering, there is some grinding with a dremel that you can do to fix it. During our first season of comps, I was scoring better then people in the 4ws class we had for most of the season. And that was my argument for dropping the 4ws class that we had, I was able to prove that you do not need it.

I like the 2.2 no rear wheel steering very much. Like said earlier it makes it more of a drivers class. You BADLY need to mod the steering on your truck. I only had to reverse once. That's with no dig either. I would prefer not to have a dig setup in 2.2 Mnster knows this but like stated earlier the votes were split and majority rules. I won't add a dig to mine untill I can't place anymore. I don't see that happening any time soon. Also my truck isn't legal for nat's,but or club ruled it ok.

i did mod my steering as soon as i got home and that did help. but im still for 4wheel steering. i agree 2.2 is a drivers class and i dont agree with digs being legal but i think we could have closer points and tougher courses if the guys placing the tennis balls know we can manuver it makes them give us tougher obstacles.

We try to make it have easy and hard sections, but so everyone can make it through for the most part. The bonus gate is where it gets hard. We just forgot the bonus gate in the 2.2's.

well im ready for next time i made quite a few changes to my truck to get it to turn and climb better. so im hoping for no rollover penalties backups didnt bother me near as bad but i rolled on the bridge twice maybe even three times. i tested yesterday and did ok but comps are where your work pays off so i guess im gonna have to wait and see

Why not start something like a 2.2 unlimited class? Throw the 4ws and dig setups there and then the 2.2 class would be closer to even for everyone. I know someone's going to say "that's what supers are for" but in an area like mine, the terrain doesn't offer much challenge to the supers. It's either easy or impossible. 2.2 helps to bring our terrain closer to scale and still keeps the difficulty up.
