Funny you say that, I was looking into tires last night. The tires that it come with are hard as a rock, look small on the truck, and are less than aggressive. I am still doing my homework but I am looking into a 1.9 rim and tire with a 4" diameter. I am considering a bit of an offset as well to give it a slightly wider stance.

Those tires look like cheap tires from eBay. If that's the case, they aren't going to provide the best grip. You should get tires from a reputable manufacturer for good grip - Pitbull, ProLine, or RC4WD (make sure they're the X2SS compound not X3).

For the steering kit i just got one from gpm, not sure if there is a better or worse option there. For the tires (on my landfreeder anyways) you won't want to go much bigger than 96-98mm. Anything taller than that will rub the tub/catch on the body during flex

The RC4WD 1.9 Rock creepers came today. My son bought them with his own money. I'm having a real hard time not ordering him a sidewinder, lipo, and a crawler motor

Sticking with stock for now. But if we do upgrade I will probably go with the 55t motor and a sidewinder. That's what I run in my ScX10 with 3s Lipo and have been very pleased for truck that we just bash around with.

I have to be honest. I am a little blown away by this little truck. We built it together with my son doing the majority of the work. We had a few issues at first but all the bugs have been worked out with a little bit of locktight. It's way to fast for my taste with a standard Nimh but despite my offer to gear it down he likes that it blows my geared down 3S lipo SCX 10 away in a drag race. What's bad is now I kind of want to build one now taking time with details making a scale replica.

Using Blackfoot's build thread I trimmed the C's for more front end droop and locked the front diff. My son built the rear diff and didn't think to do the locked option. We took it all apart tonight and locked the rear. We also cut the front brick off. Worlds of difference over our back yard stream bed rocks. Next up is an upgrade to the rear links and steering.

I'm not sure why you'd go with the Sidewinder unless you want the adjustability of the drag brake. The HobbyWing WP1060 is a great, $20, waterproof, brushed ESC. The drag brake is a little stiff, but for a newbie that's not a bad thing.

The ability to program it. That and I already have the programmer and am familiar with the software. I am going to cut full throttle and add a drag brake and crawler brake.
