| Picking the right trans/transfer/gearing
I'm hoping to be educated on what I need to setup my rig I'm building. I'll be using my scx10 trans/transfer case as a transfer case only, center mounted, so now I need something for my front mounted stock scx10 motor. I'm wondering if a 3:1 or 4:1 GRU from rc4wd will be okay to use, and then go straight to the scx10 transfer case via a 3rd drive shaft. My rig will likely be heavy, around 8lb-10lb if I had to take a wild guess, and running yota axles from rc4wd and 4" tires. I am looking for great low speed crawling power that can lug that weight around, but not be unreasonably slow moving from obstacle to obstacle. Hoping for input on whether 3:1 or 4:1 is ok, and if not, what I should be looking at (disruptor?). |

Use a toyzuki low center of gravity motor mount. It mounts your motor and spur gear forward and attaches to your stock tranny or his transfer case. You have all the gearing options of a standard trans since all the original gears are used along with the bennifit of a lower cg and forward weight bias.

Thanks! I guess I was having a brain fart since someone already suggested the toyzuki motor mount for another reason in my build thread. With the toyzuki transfer case it seems prone to dust and dirt messing clogging it up? |

| Re: Picking the right trans/transfer/gearing You can use the stock transmission as a transfer case or use his, he will have 3d printed dust covers available soon if it is a concern. Easy to fab a cover from tape or lexan also if need be. I have never had an issue with dirt and debris my self....

Awesome! That was an easy solution and I probably didn't need to make a thread for it, but thanks anyways for answering
