| RC Crawling Database
I really hope I do not make anyone mad or break any rules for doing this. In my area I was having a hard time finding other crawlers as well as places to crawl. I decided to create a website that will have a searchable database as well as a world map that will allow anyone to find what is near them. I have some clubs and public crawling already listed but would like to get as many as I can in one area. The website is not a forum, it is not a article type site, just a pretty straight forward enter your address or city or zip code to find a place and/or group. http://rcrockcrawl.com is the web address. If this is in the wrong section please let me know. If it is not allowed, please let me know. Thank You. |

Organizing and making useful information available is commendable. So how do I add a location without an address? Thanks google maps. 1 Added Last edited by Dostradamas; 07-16-2015 at 05:05 PM. |

RCCrawler is the database, the regional sections are subfolders. I don't get it. |

RCC put up regional sections to help. Then after a while people went to Facebook. Now that everyone stares at FB all day it has almost killed RCC. Or, if not that extreme, it most certainly has you looking at two places instead of one. Soup got thinner.

I am not looking at recreating the wheel at all. Forums are a great tool, however it lacks some visual when one is trying to see what is out there. For example you can not type in a zip code and search on a forum for places around. If they used the zip code then it will find it, but if it is say 1 city over (5 miles) then you would never find it. I used to race RC cars and when we went on vacation I had a hard time finding places around where we stayed, unless I knew about them. Google maps helps for hobby shops and physical tracks, but doesn't help out with local groups etc.. Again, I am not trying to be anything more then a tool to help locate. Nothing more, nothing less. Hopefully the idea takes off and I can share a great deal of locations. If not, nothing loss. |

I'm just getting into this hobby and having a map of places that people frequent would be a tremendous help. Add on top of that the locations of like-minded people to possible get together and crawl, and I think it's only a benefit.

Up to 5 crawling spots and 34 groups/clubs in the last 24 hours. A couple events have been added as well. Keep them coming and if I can ask you to share that would be great also. |

posted up my favorite spots close to home, this is a great idea i hope this takes off. You should build in some sort of networking type thing so people can meet up, as the regional sections on here leave some to be desired.

Thanks guys. It only works if people share their clubs, groups, locations or events. I know Facebook and rccrawler forum is a great, GREAT thing but it seems to lack the ease of punching in a city and finding out what is near by. When someone submits a club/group I like having a way for people to get ahold of them directly. So far all of them have a FB page or a website so if you click the "Contact" button it brings that up. The good part is since I started this I realized there is a couple nice places within 90 minutes away from me to crawl and so that is my plan this weekend. Visit a few places submitted. It will take a little time to get it built up but since going live on the 7/17/2015 I think it is going in the right direction. There are a few spots in Wisconsin however it depends on where in Wisconsin. This is a great spot I have been to- RC Rock Crawl but if you are several hours away it may not be close enough. |
