Question What servo do you use?

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LX0929&P=7

Would this servo be ok on a 1:18 with 2.2's?

if not which one will, i'm not intrested in a $30+ servo.

I was running a JR270 for a while with stock tires, but once I got 2.2's it wouldnt turn them very well, so I opted for the Hitec HS-645MG with metal gears and plenty of tourque for the 2.2 moabs I run. $45 for the Hitec

Your local hobby shop should be able to hook you up with exactly what you need. You probably don't need a servo saver type servo arm. You won't be seeing a lot of speed with these things. A standard servo arm of the length you need should work just fine.

My LHS told me that there wasn't necessary a standard spline count or shaft diameter, and that different servos will take different arms.

The critical dimension is the distance from the servo output shaft down to where ever your steering links will be. You want the arm to be long enough so that the steering links are mostly parallel. Look at this image:

I brought my servo into my LHS so they could test-fit different arms and make sure the one they sold me would work. I also needed one long enough to "reach down" and keep the two steering links relatively straight across.

That Traxxas 2055 is a very common steering servo. I imagine that if you called Tower Hobbies or other online hobby store with your servo model number and the length of arm that you need, they'd be able to hook you up.
