Default Horizon Hobby Slickrock

Ok so my youngest (7yrs old) has been wanting a Crawler for some time now and he saved up his money for over half of the Horizon Hobby Slickrock and he absolutely LOVES it!

BUT it keeps pulling the driver rear shock apart, the threaded rod into the lower mount keeps coming apart. I can not find aluminum parts (think the threads should hold in metal) for this thing, I was told it is basically a Losi Mini Crawler but I can't find parts for that either. My older son has the Losi Mini Crawler and we bought the aluminum shocks for it but they have been discontinued. I've found out it's not a 1.9 but a 1/18th scale but even with that info I can't find shocks the right length.

Can someone please help or point me in the right direction of some options.

Thanks,
Nick

definitely a 1/18, I had a similar issue with my mini rock crawler used a dab of ca glue when installing the bottom of the shock hasn't moved since.

You can try CA (superglue) but, it might not hold if your kids are rough on stuff. (Like my wife is. All of her stuff has to be bomb proof) Alternatively, try dipping the threaded part in E6000 or Barge Cement, threading it back together, and then letting it dry overnight. Both of these products hold as well as CA but, are flexible, where CA is not.

There are parts round for the slickrock, not like an scx10, but enough.

Unfortunately you are going to have to ebay.

VTR314005=lower bend links, but if your rod ends are stripped you'll need new ones.

VTR312011- alloy carriers

Integy makes at least rears

Driveshafts are available in steel, just search for the lenght and compare output diameter. Same thing for shocks, I think they are 80mm but don't go by that. I know boomracing makes a set.

Forget the superglue. JB wield the ends on and they never come off.

Sweet!!! Thanks for the info guys! I ended up super gluing the bottom on, he's not super ruff with it but the torque twist is what is doing it because it's only the driver rear shock.

He was super excited 1st when he got a package in the mail and the got even more excited when he saw it was Crawler parts with bonus stickers!

When I get some time over the next couple of days I'll help direct him in swapping them over.

Thank you sir! You truly made his day!

Nick

Now that is one big smile! And in your photo too Glad I could help and hope they last a little longer. If I find more MRC/Slickrock parts, now I know where they need to go!

Good job Rocfrog for getting your son into rc crawling and to fxman for helping to keep that boys interest in the hobby by helping him out with parts.
