Default XR Mod

So I want to build up the SCX10 axels with the xr mod. Does anyone know what VP universals I'd need. I think I have the right ones but I can't tell. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do believe you use those, as they are equal length as the SCX is.
I cut Ti axle shafts for the rear with this option and depending on lockouts, Wraith lockouts use 2 long side XR length shafts and with XR lockouts 2 short side XR shafts are used.
But the front is different because it is centered from the beginning.
Hope that makes since.

Yes it kind of does thank you! I'm gonna use scx10 lockouts out back just because I'm not gaining anything either way for the rear.

If you have regular beef tubes but no splines can you use those? Will the hole in the regular beef tubes line up with wraith hubs?

If you could post up on this thread of the steps and what you've got to do. Please.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet but...Vanquish VVDs really aren't the best for steering angle, and if you're doing the XR mod the advantage is that you gain a lot more of it. Just point that out unless it's been considered already.

Okay. What vvds should I get that'll be very strong and good steering angle?

Axial Universals work fine: Axial AX30563. What tubes are you going to use?

Also, Harley has 2 videos on this where he shows the process pretty well, depending on what tubes you go with, starting on vid 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW-kPQZjYW8

I'm gonna use the xr mod narrow tubes for the front and regular beef tubes in the rear. How strong are the axial universals?

I have run 35-55t motors on 3s with the lowest possible gearing on 2.2 tires completely bound up and have never broke an axial universal. I am also going to really stress these puppies out once my new axle build is done. Super wide axles and big 2.2 tires even by 2.2 standards.

The axial universals are pretty damn strong if you don't lock them up. DLUX also sells FBA shafts which are strong as sh*t.
