OK, so quickly knocked up a front bumper for my Hilux at work today. Looks OK, but wondering if 8oz is too much weight for one? I can make another out of thinner material, but guess I might save 2oz? Nowt against tube bumpers, but I do prefer this style. Thing is by the time I've added a light bar it'll gain more weight. 20170628_205956 by Peter Rathbone, on Flickr 20170628_210026 by Peter Rathbone, on Flickr |

That's a good looking bumper. 8 ounce is pretty heavy though.

Yeah, thats what I feared. My welding skills are a bit limited hence the heavyweight one first as its easier to TIG... I'll have to keep practicing! |

I don't see the problem with that. Looks great, and it'll add some nice weight up front. You'll do great on climbs, and it doesn't look too high up Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk |

Hmm, it is easier to just make a couple of brackets tomorrow... I'll give it a go, cant do any harm. It's level with the bottom of the chassis (Ascender) so no higher than the battery.

Looks good id give it a shot if you could try to weigh the front vs rear of truck with it mounted if the front is slightly heavier than rear your golden!

Yep, I'd give it a shot as-is as well. I think the weight will be a little too high for my taste, but it might work out for you.

I've occasionally wondered if anyone else's OCD has made them try hardening their steel (heat and quench) to get a slightly slipperyer finish? It's a bit crazy, but hardened steel slides over things a fair bit easier than normal mild steel. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
