The 1060 and 1080 have been good to me. Calibrating forward is a little wonky, but at least if you read the instruction it works out.

The AE-2 is garbage too. Way too large, virtually nonexistent internal BEC, not waterproof, a PITA to program, etc. The world is better off without it. The AE-5 is worse. I'll take a WP 1080 over the AE-2 any day.

How would you say the WP1060 stacks up, Ripper?

It has been reliable. The BEC is too weak for running a decent servo, so an external BEC if your running 3's or direct power if 2's.

It lacks any programming, you get F/B/R if you want it. Drag brake is adequate, but again no real adjustment.

The only reason I have a 1060 is because they haven't broken, and the rigs are already set up to address the BEC issue.

You can't beat the price, however if you step up to the 1080 you wont need a BEC if you want to run 7.4 to the servo. So the extra cash equals out when you consider the BEC.

But you then can't use the BEC for led without resistors or a BEC. I just use a cheap $2.00 Chinese BEC to run lights.

The you have the receiver issue, my Flysky receiver seems to be dealing with the 7.4v without any issues. I think you can get HV ones, but I figured if I need a HV one I might as well see if the standard that came with the remote will burn up first, since id never use it again.

The 1060 is very similar to the AE-5, but the 1060 is better because it's more reliable. You can also use a mode without the drag brake on the 1060. You can't do that on the AE-5 which is why it baffles myself and many others why Axial would put it in go fast rigs like the SMT10 monster truck.

They should just ditch the AE-5, gtg with Hobbywing, start slapping AE-6 stickers on the WP1080, and include them in their RTR combos! =) Would solve the problem.

Can't you disable drag brake on the AE-5 by removing the jumper?
