Default Hot glue vs E6000

Which is stronger, hot glue or E6000? I have both and I'm getting ready to glue some body mount magnets to a new lexan body and was curious which one would work best.

E6000 or Shoe Goo is by far stronger than the average hot glue. The only thing I use hot glue for is sticking down wires for lights on my bodies.

Hot glue will NOT hold the magnets strong enough to work. I tried that because I didn't have anything else and it came off the first time I tried to pick up the truck.

Cool, expect to have your body flop off on every roll, for your glue to not hold your magnets, and when the glue does hold them expect them to pull the paint right off the lexan leaving a nice clear spot for you to glue back on to.

Exactly. Magnet body mounts are a great idea in theory only. They aren't worth the hassle.

Alternatives to magnets? I was aware that the glue would only be as strong as the paint bond. I don't want body pins and clips but I have been considering some sort of side mounting system. I have also considerd using Velcro but that has it's own problems. I have spent a fair amount of time reading and looking at youtube.

Why not attach the magnets with screws? They wouldn't have to be very big.

Maybe attach them temporarily with regular hot glue, then drill the holes for the screws.

i use heavy duty velco to hold on my bodies, big pieces. i can lift the whole truck up by the body and won't come off (eventually will start to but takes a while). just another option for ya.

The next level of velcro is dual lock, that stuff is super strong depending on how large the pieces are. It snaps in place with a nice click. The weak point here is the 3M servo tape its stuck on with which might pull loose possibly with paint. It holds well but I wouldn't trust it alone.

With magnets and a bit of the dual lock, it would likely hold up to most average crawler abuse. But a really hard slam is likely to overcome it though.

^ You can find it on eBay or amazon. 3M Dual Lock. It comes in different widths and thicknesses. IMO the thin is too thin. I’ve been using this stuff over 15yrs, it’s awesome.

.

Dual lock is great stuff. If you clean and degrease the surface first , it doesn’t let go. I use it for battery’s and escs ..... on my bully crawler it will hold the small 3s I run.

Hey Ernie, I tried the hardware store first and they didn't have it, I believe I picked it up on Amazon.
