| Chevy Bodied RTR for Adult Beginner
I've got a TF2 and a Bomber. Buddy has TRX4 Defender RTR and it seems pretty indestructible, except for the servos. I'm kind of leaning a new guy to an Axial Honcho or the Bronco TRX4. He's a Chevy guy tho, any Chevy bodied RTRs out there, besides the Ascender and Red Cat? We do trails, rock crawling and some light bashing.

You could get a kit TRX-4, it doesn't come with a body, so you'll be able to choose. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk |

The only Chevy hard body I can think of at the moment is the RC4WD TF2 limited edition Blazer. And I'd never recommend a TF2 to a newbie. Axial is supposedly going to release a Chevy body at some point, but with the bankruptcy that might have been put on hold. It's secretive. And it's anybody's guess if it will become an RTR. |

SCX10 Honcho would get my vote. But it's not a chevy. Could put a proline body on it though. It's a lot of rig for not a lot of $$. Just make sure they pick up the metal link pivots with the new rig, show him how to install them.

You could EASILY sell the Honcho body or the Bronco body - both very desirable. Buy a Proline '66 C10 body and he can choose his own color. Done

Or Proline did have a late model ('14-'16ish) Chevy Ext. cab (cab only) for a Honcho cage, but you might have to do some auction site search for one now. And I have seen some meant for Revos mounted with some success.

Buy the TRX4 kit and install a Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer body which is a drop on fit if you use the LURC Ascender K5 rear conversion body mount. Ascender K5 Blazer bodies are normally available off ebay. Last edited by Inspector86; 03-08-2018 at 01:33 PM. |

Wait a second. I don't know what I was thinking. The Ascender RTR is offered with a 1972 Chevy K10 truck or 1986 K5 Blazer body. And right now it's $40 off. You'd be hard pressed to find a better RTR for a better price! https://www.horizonhobby.com/1972-ch...h-rtr-vtr03090 https://www.horizonhobby.com/1-10-19...d-rtr-vtr03014 |

| Re: Chevy Bodied RTR for Adult Beginner Yes it was. I used a Vaterra rear cage with mine, but the body is made to match up to a Honcho cage. So if he buys the new Honcho RTR and replaces the cab with this Chevy one, sounds like a win!

Thanks guys. I'm going to stick with Axial and hope they don't go out of business.

And there are a couple more options for this type of cab and cage combo: Dinky RC has a bedside kit that attaches to the cage: This of course gives a more standard bed with roll cage look. And then Proline has an utility body that replaces the cage. I'm transforming my SCX10.2 XJ kit to this: If you're really into the utility bed, Exclusive RC / The Scale King has some interesting items for this bed, like a tailgate, styrene bumper, headache rack, and my favorite, the toolboxes. Unfortunately, I'm not using any them for this rig.

Is there a reason why you want to stick to Axial? I don't see Axial going out of business anytime soon. If anything they will be sold off to an investment firm and then it's anybody's guess what will happen. Either way you probably won't have to worry about Axial parts supply unless Axial screws it up again and stops paying the supplier like they reportedly did last year when Axial kits, RTRs and parts were impossible to find.

| Re: Chevy Bodied RTR for Adult Beginner or maybe a Chevy body on linked CMAX , but that's not RTR... I know it's all in what the total rig is, but I've seen a stock SCX10.1 float across an obstacle without help, where a customized TRX-4 had to winch across! Don't get me wrong, TRX-4s are great at what they do, and if I had known about it at the time, I might've waited for it instead of getting a SCX10.2 last year. |
