Down hill carnage
 

So last night took the Bronco out , climbing a nice dirt steep hill and rolled it all the way down the hill then smashed into some rocks.

My steering is now cranked completely to the right , if i turn right on the remote it will turn the steering to the straight position.

I haven not had a chance to take it apart yet.

But my guess is the plastic servo horn got crunched over to the one side wacking out the steering???

I do have the metal steering servo horn at home to put on.

What do you think. The servo still steers and truck runs.

Yeah I'm going to bet your horn or servo got stripped.

well if it is the servo i guess its upgrade time, whats a good servo to match Hobbywing 1080 ESC?

One other question on ebay they have Hobbywing 1080 ESC and Hobbywing "WP" 1080 ESC

the item with WP seems to be 12-20 bucks more is this a different model having the WP in it?

I think the WP stands for Water Proof

If you look very closely at the servo's output shaft, you can usually see tiny bits of plastic material embedded into the splines. It's harder to actually distinguish on the horn itself... especially being black plastic. Pretty sure as mentioned... That your servo horn is toasted and possibly the servo. Remove the horn from the servo and just run the servo all the way to the left and right to see if the servo itself is damaged. If it's the stock 2075x servo then it's garbage anyway. Very few people get lucky enough to have those servos last very long.

BTW... The Hobbywing QuicRun wp1080 is indeed waterproof.

So i took it all apart and just stripped the horn, servo still going good!..for now , will still upgrade just not right away yet

I'm running the power hd 20k on my HW1080 it has been a good servo $20. It's definitely a huge improvement from stock. There's also a thread in electronics section titled: new cheap servo hotness. You should check it out. Then there's my next purchase which is the promodeler 470 $100. Also a few other high dollar servos that others are running. All up to you & your budget. Good luck!

Glad it was only the servo horn. May wanna keep in mind when you do upgrade the servo that if you decide to go over 300 oz torque you will be better served if you run an external BEC. It will help take additional stress off of the ESC giving
it a longer life by keeping temps down.

Metal servo horns are one of the first and IMO most important upgrades you can do.
