price point will dictate whether this is successful or not.

$200. It's ok, but I'd expect better shocks.

I'm glad to see manufacturers recognizing a market for sliders, but like Duke said the PP has to make sense. In this case the body and wheels/tires aren't worth another $130 for me so it makes sense.

Upgraded shocks would make it more attractive than the full kit, but would jump the entry fee too.

Maybe Traxxas can come out with a TRX4 Sport builders kit without all them damn electronics.

All of the links for three wheelbase configurations, metal gears. This is a smart release.

Edit: Not having owned one yet, did the original 10.2 kit come with option parts for all three wheel base configurations?

I worry enough about myself for both of us.

OG Kit came with 12.3" wheelbase and that was it.

I do like the resurgence in kits though. I will always be a kit guy over RTR.

I've never tried out the new AR44 axles. How are they compared to the old multi-piece design?

The AX10 transmission is also something I don't currently have yet, as both the SCX10.2's I have are the Cherokee Kit with the newer transmission.

I wonder why they used the old style transmission rather than the new kit transmission.

I have never owned an scx ot any generation. At you saying that is a trans from the OG scx not a second gen?

They currently use both the original, 3 gear style and a newer, lower CG version (which I prefer). The original has been updated to do away with the metal motor mount, but for all intents and purposes, remains the same design.

Looks like Axial is copying HPI here as an odd twist of events...

If you look at it this Axial kit it is really a Deadbolt kit as it has the dumbed down and cheaper components (trans and axles for sure).

Personally, I'd go with the better equipped HPI Venture Scale Builder's Kit coming in January if I had to choose. It's $50 more, but the shocks alone are worth the upgrade. That's assuming HPI actually releases it on time and we all know how well that typically works.

Thats nice.
Now lets drop to our knees and pray we will get a lot of new cool bodies to put on our Builders kits.

CUZ to me the lack of bodies are what is holding this hobby back, aside for the transition to much larger vehicles which i feel are the next step.

Considering the Axial kit is already in the hands of a few people, I'd say that HPI merely got their press release out first. The kit transmission would have been nice, but the newer style axles are actually stronger than the kit ones. Metal trans gears, Universals, Aluminum kit-style links in three different wheelbase options. Deadbolt has none of those.

The only thing holding you back is building your own. Sky's the limit when you learn how to scratch build. There's also a ton of hardbody options out there that get neglected. "thumbsup"
