looking for help here. has anyone drill&tapped the SSD arms to M4? it seems like their is plenty of material to support the larger m4, and could be a simple task. i am sure theres many other products that i can buy, but would prefer to just keep costs down and make these a bit stronger. Serviceable ends and replacable parts are why i like these, but as my smt10 is upgraded, i fear the ssd's wont work too well. if all else fails, i like these, as it appears i can simply smash any rod-end for use. why you want to weaken the plastic rod going to 4mm means less plastic left to hold the set screw. the 3mm set screw isn't the problem. never managed to break it, but several rod endsbut easy cheap fix |

I would only make the arm M4, and use a dedicated M4 end-link. (rpm seems much stronger) also considering an alternitive link, as other upgrades also increase the overall mass of the truck. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk |

Figures after all this time I'd end up with a pair of ssd trailing arms and have nothing but issues. Literally, not figuratively but the FIRST rock I started to climb the ol bouncer gave a little hop and the axle folded due to a busted rod end. I tapped the trailing arms deeper and used 10mm longer set screws to ensure I was getting full depth into the ssd rod ends (exact parts pictured on ssd website) too and then the second rock I climbed took out another. I replaced that pair of ends with generic traxxas ends and ran the whole comp (class 3, not hill killing so I was easy on it) with those ends. Got home and replaced them with VP trailing arms. Problem solved. |

I only got about 3 packs in before i broke one on my SMT10. I think the issue is the set screw provided is m3x15. The rod end broke right where the set screw stops. If you thread it all the way into the rod end, you don't get enough thread engagement on the arm. I bought some m3x20 set screws (Axial 0187). This lets you thread the set screw into the rod end all the way and still have plenty of thread for the arm. Since making this change, i have about 15 packs through it with some pretty rough landings with no issues. If i were to do it again, i would probably go with the SuperShafty trailing arms. Picture shows the m3x15 set screw. |

I did the same thing. I tapped one end of the trailing arm through and the other end bottomed in the bore so I could run those set screws. Popped almost immediately.
