Default Suspension question

Hey all,
So I remember reading that having one end(front or rear) stiffer than the other is OK/ better. Hoping someone can inform me on best suspension settings surrounding this idea, or if you want them even front and rear? From what I remembered I think they said having front stiffer than rear will keep the car leveller through flexing situations.
Appreciate your help, I'm just getting all parts and kit ordered now for my first rc crawler since an ax10 Scorpion I had for 6 months ten years ago.
Thanks snyds

Actually, I have always heard that the rear should be stiffer since the weight transfers to the rear as you climb up hill. Personally, I have the same shocks and springs front and rear based on the type of crawling that I do. Your needs may vary depending on your crawling.

There’s no magic set up. You’re gonna have to build and run the rig, then test and tune accordingly. There are a lot of variables including the weight and weight bias of the rig.

For MOST trail/crawl applications, if you maintain the "preferred" weight distro of 60% forward / 40% rear you'll GENERALLY want a slightly stiffer rear, like one spring color harder. Works well for me, YMMV.

I have run stiffer in the rear and also the same on all four. A softer spring gives better traction. A stiffer spring makes the tire do more of the work (flexing.) So my general setup is with softer foams in front. All four springs the same with a slightly heavier oil in rear and a bit more preload in rear also. 60/40 is a good starting point for scaler type rig. I am almost at 30/70 on my shafty and MOA. My quick check for setting suspension is lift one wheel up untill spring is fully compressed. The opposite wheels spring should compress all the way just before the other two tires come off the ground. Good starting point for spring load. Shock oil is mostly by your driving style and terrain. Good luck.

Stiffer springs in the rear seem to do better on my bomber
