So has anyone else seen the new old stock xr10 for sale on the bay right now? The bid price is up to $3000 with $100 shipping! That is insane! Is this a typical price for a new xr10 these days? Who in their right mind would pay that much?

I think someone is playing games. No way would any sane person shell out that kind of coin.

I wonder if it's because the item is in Russia, it's some weird currency exchange that doesn't translate via the auction?

There is literally no collector value to a NIB kit. I've watched them go for $2-300 several times to people planning to use them.

The people bidding it up like that are gonna file a complaint with eBay saying they didn’t receive what they expected. eBay’s stupid no questions asked return policy will force a refund. Shenanigans will ensue.

Exactly. The NIB version may be valuable in 10 years or so to certain collectors, but at this point it's not worth much more than the day it was released.

Yeah that policy is flawed. That's why I happily buy from eBay, but rarely sell.

Yeah I've been burned as a seller on ebay as well. They err on the side of the buyer way too much and screw over the seller if the buyer says anything at all.

If I recall correctly that $5000 thing is a method people use to get around relisting the item or some other exploit involving the listing process, it's not that they actually want $5000 for it.
