I've got my eye on these, didnt realize Amain had that deal thanks! I'm probably gonna order one tonight!

My brother got a deal on his, someone on ebay was stripping the RTR electrics and selling the rollers. Anyway it performs super well, its very light and the weight balance is just about perfect. He also has a TRX4 and I think he prefers the Venture.

I love the Venture. I've been running one since they were first released and it's become my go-to rig while the 10.2 sits on the shelf. But I'm also a fan of HPI and of the FJ Cruiser so I'm admittedly biased..

The only downside is the lack of CVD's on the rtr's but the SBK comes with them so it's a non-issue. SBK also comes with aluminum links and brass axle tubes so it's a no-brainer imo.

I've got an SBK on order and then I'll sell my rtr, that was the easiest way to get the cvd's...

I have been intersted in the Venture for some time now, but didn't want to buy the RTR. This kit looks ideal for me. The video also was helpful. Hemistorm does some good videos. Avaliable in the UK around mid February.

I already picked up the RTR, but now I have the itch to build one. I may have to do it.

I'm definitely picking one up. My only decision now is whether I'm going to put an FJ body on it or go for something else.

Thanks for sharing. Very nice looking kit. It's on my list now! So many great non-Axial choices these days.

If you don’t mind running 4.25” or smaller tires, the FJ body is pretty scale looking.

Hi,
it is 199 US$, ca. 180 €.
But here in Europe the price is € 269, ca. 305 US$.

The Axial Raw Builders kit it US$ 199 and € 220 in Europe.
Wanted to buy the HPI kit - but???

What's up, HPI?
Cannot understand this…

(Same thing with the Redcat Gen 8, 299 US$, here in Europe 399 €!!! - The TRX4 Sport is only 340 € in Europe, who will ever buy a Gen 8, if the TRX4 is 60 € cheaper, because of the body? No way in Europe).

Well unlike the Red Cat, the HPI Venture is a higher quality truck than the Axial SCX10...

And this explains why the Axial and the HPI have the same price in the US and in Europe the HPI is 25% more expensive than the Axial?

In the US both kits are $200.

The final decision is up to you, but the Venture is the better kit.

With the SCX10 II kit you get crappy, plastic shocks that you'll throw in the trash, an all plastic transmission case and cheap, one-piece axle housings from the Deadbolt. It's really a bottom shelf kit. The only positives, IMO, are the universals and the aluminum links that are included. Axial includes links for three different wheelbases, which is nice, but once you select the wheelbase you'll throw the rest of the links in a spare parts box. Silly inclusion of you ask me. Some will argue the SCX10 II has better performance, but if that's true the difference is negligible.

The Venture kit comes with really good shocks, a more scale layout and better quality plastics along with everything else the Axial includes outside of the links for the two other wheelbases. The Venture kit also comes with brass axle weights which is a nice touch.

I just noticed that Red Cat's preassembled chassis kit, which is an odd choice, is also $200. Red Cat must be crazy pricing their chassis the same as Axial and HPI!

I just got a message from the dealer I pre ordered from and he has been told by HPi that kits should be with them tomorrow (Thursday), so possibly the dealers will have them Friday. This is UK, so don't know if the same applies to the USA or other areas.

I'm not holding my breath though.

Not that they are in the same price range, but how does this truck compare to the TRX4 "kit"? portal axles, 2 speed, and remote lockers aside

Its tough being a noob in this arena because it seems like a lot of these trucks have the same features, so knowing which offers an advantage can be hard to work out over the interwebz.

If I'm being truly objective (sometimes hard because I'm heavily biased against Traxxas because of their tendency to produce proprietary components) then I would say that the Venture is a better option (imo, particularly for new users).

My biggest issue with the TRX is the portals, the 2-speed and the selectable lockers; they're mechanically complicated and add a whole bunch of gears and bearings that need maintaining and can fail.

If we're talking about kits here, I'll skip the fact that Traxxas speed controls tend to blow up and their servos are junk. But if we're not talking about all of these components, I'd have to say they're pretty close to an even match; you really can't go wrong with either.

They're both well designed rigs.
