Transmission/motor mounts steel verse delrin Just wondering the pros and cons between the two. |
My guess would be weight & rust factor. Rob $.02 |
Delrin would flex a LOT more than steel, I'd think... |
Does the steel effect the magnetic field of the motor at all? The reason I ask is because my tuber has a 1/8 inch steel skid on it. LOL I know it is over kill but I am trying to get a low CG. My servo plates are also made of 1/8 inch steel plate. I am just trying to offset the weight of the tubing by using heavier materials down low. I also plan to mount the shocks so the heaviest part is down low. I do nto have a problem with removing the skid if need be but we do not have much in the form of Delrin or other plastic materials in my area. Would need to drive 50 miles just to get some. |
The steel should not effect the motors mag field just overall weight of the rig. Lot's of people use steel for skids and mounts on tubers and scalers. I use delrin for all kinds of parts and if you use a thick enough piece it is pretty sturdy. |
i rather use steel its stronger |
