Default Looking for recommendations on shocks for SCX 10.2

Hey everyone currently looking for some input on shock upgrades for SCX 10.2.I like the look of the air/internal spring shocks but unsure of the performance.

Thanks !

Pretty much across the board they're crap since they're cheap shocks. Traxxas big horse are my go too. Slap a set of 2661s on there and have fun.

Traxxas TRX-4 take-offs are excellent if you want a more "scale" sized shock as well...

+1 for traxxas take off. I hate to say that but these perform well just out of box. I do not understand why did people keep selling those at 40 bucks on eBay.

Another vote for stock TRX- 4 shocks. I’ve wasted my money on numerous sets of RC4wd King shocks and Pro Line shocks and they all end up leaking like the Axial shocks do. I’m running TRX4 shocks with brass spring retainers and traxxas white stripe springs in the rear and no stripe springs up front. On both of my SCX10s. It allows the ride height to settle in and help the truck sit lower this way.

Yepp, TRX-4 shocks are great. The Axial SCX10 II springs fit as well. Axial spring retainers don't fit but you can drill a small hole into the TRX4 retainers and secure them this way.

Traxxas shocks are great as everybody said and they are very affordable and proven.

SSD just came out with scale shocks and I definitely want to give them a try.

Treat yo self and spend the extra $10 on these, unless you find a smoking used deal this would be my choice.

I’ll continue with the general consensus that the TRX4 shocks can’t be beat. As Jato said though, SSD’s new ones look good. The advantage being machined caps and spring retainers versus plastic in the Traxxas shocks. Likely can’t go wrong with either one, but the Traxxas shocks are proven. I limit mine to 85mm with internal spacers and they’re perfect for an SCX2.

I may have to flip a coin between the trx4 and SSD .However the trx4 seam to be very proven.

Depending on how heavy is your truck and what kind of body movement you'd like. I use 300 as a general reference point for my likes. And adjust it if I want it to be faster or slower.

Im gonna use my shocks off of my Losi 22 2.0 buggy I never use anymore. Rears are 90mm fronts are 78mm but im gonna mount the shorter rears onto the frame at an angle versus on the uprights. Fronts i will use the uprights.. Losi shocks are verrrry smooth......

Basically like what this guy did..

I think he’s referring to CST, which shakes out to be like a 25wt so your method certainly works as well

Jonnie here’s an active thread on a similar subject. Shock oil wt

Or you could buy the SSD shocks and write a nice little review on them for us all. SSD stuff rarely/never disappoints, pretty safe bet.

Guess you need to edit your post. SSD disappointed me with one of their products and their customer service. Never again.
