Default PTI 12-inch crawler kit

I just thought I'd post a few pics of my PTI GRC with the 12.5-inch stretch kit. These were taken at the SoCal RC Rock Crawlers round 5 competition at The Spot 2. This rig is pretty light (probably too light at the moment) weighing in at just over 3lbs. As you can probably see in a few of the photos it has a 3.8:1 planetary gear box to bring the final drive ratio to 49:1. I know the width is a bit wide I think I'll narrow the next set of wheels so the track width is a bit narrower. There are a few other minor tweaks that need to be made, but over all I was pretty happy with the way it performed. I'm still new at crawling, but I'm learning a lot quickly.

Sorry about that I didn't realize they wouldn't allow you to view them. I've relinked the photos.

Looks pretty good! Let us know how the axles hold up.

Yeah, they hold up pretty good. I did modify them a bit though. I ground down the un-necessary plastic on the underside of the center portion. You can barely see it in the fourth photo.

Are those lower shock mounts what's gonna come in the kit? Paul had sent some prototype links for me to try out. They have the shock mounts on the link themselves. I hadn't had very high hopes for 'em, but they've actually worked out really well.

Yeah, we've decided to abandon the mount on the link itself. The new mounts (as seen in the photo) are closer to what will come in the kit. This kit is still a prototype, but is closer to production. We've also made a change to the position of the uppler link mount on the axle. It's been moved higher for better geometery. The axle stays flatter throughout the suspensions movement. It also doesn't allow the axle to piviot under load.

I forgot to ask... Is the gear reduction also going to be included? Did you guys beef up the motor plate to keep it from flexing with the motor hanging that far off?

I think the width looks just fine. matches the wheelbase perfect.

very nice looking rig, add a little weight in the right places (low), and that thing should rock

got any flex shots?

The gear reduction won't be included. It will be an opional upgrade. And we did make a 3mm thick carbon fiber mounting plate that greatly reduced the flex on the previous one. I believe the gear reduction kit will include the new mounting plate, gear box, and new front plate to accomodate the longer motor assembly (I'm not exactly sure so don't quote me on that).

Yup, even though it's light that's a good thing. Having the truck light allows for more tunability. If you need more weight you can just as much as you need. Down low and either in the front, back or both. It would also depend on what type of batteries you use. I was using a Venom 1550mah 20c Lipo (VEN-1570). It fits right between the chassis rails in the rear below the electronics. I didn't use any weights and it was pretty good. But I think if I added some weight to the front axle it would have been even better. I'll try that next time.

PTI sells parts off their website if you can't find them anywhere else.

Best looking PTI I have seen so far!
I'll be interested how the axles/transmission hold up.
