For sure, I get it from a business standpoint. This is the right release for VP and it’s a killer platform, no doubt. Just not for me. Hopefully next year they release what I was hoping for this year!! If I were to choose I’d still go with the Pro over this one, but only because I’m not a portal fan. This will be a great truck for some. For you, since you already have a VS410, one with portals AND a VFD trans would likely be the better choice.

Quote: Also, any differences between the Ultra and the Pro except for portals? I will say the $829.99 is great when compared to the Pro. Is that the standard price or pre-order price only? Last edited by JatoTheRipper; 01-15-2020 at 11:53 AM.

Good point on availability. This one comes with 80mm shocks (versus the 90mm shocks on the Origin and Pro). Also indicates an upgraded transmission - not sure what that might entail though. Gearing most likely.

Release says Jan 20th... So in a week? Price point is great i think. The transmission is definitely not "upgraded", the description is the same as the VFD kit, with sintered gears, molded plastic bearing plates etc. So the Pro version seems to have the better options. Still another great option as a kit though. I just cant wait for the front housing release. Got some rigs to swap!! |

Yes, January 20th! November was the previous Pro kit pre-order and was quickly fixed.

Nothing wrong with the “plastic” VFD. Totally strong and good fit and finish. Works well in the VS4 also Hang up and Drive |

I just ordered too, will be my first Vanquish product. Harleys video is amazing. Does he work for Vanquish?

Meh. That's a lot of bread. I get that it's loaded but half the fun is tinkering and upgrading imo. Cool for those that want a set it and forget it though.

How much ground clearance do the portals add? I can't find that.

Nice! I wonder does the skid and body sit at the same height with the addition of these portals. I would assume its been raised to match the axles and links being raised? I'll just add that personally I found myself getting hung up on the rocks fairly easily with the pro when stock (at the skid and sliders not the axles) and I've raised it up 10mm which helped a fair bit. So if this Ultra got a lift too I'd say its a nice addition. Not that I lift trucks regularly (I'm usually lowering them). |

I'm curious about why the "lowered" specs on the VFD. If this is a "portal" version of the 'Pro', then why is it coming with the "VFD transmission kit" version of the trans, as opposed to the exact same version included with the 'Pro'? ~ More peace, love, laughter & kindness would make the world a MUCH better place |
