Most use 1s now, but NIMH is still used on some.
I have all the availablemicro crawlers, using this 2:1 axle I'm convinced the 1s lipo is mostly just a band aid to get smoother throttle control with the high axle gearing and small cheap motors.
I definitely don't agree 1s is enough power for crawling, maybe for mild trails.
The only thing that really breaks with just a 2s swap on these is the plastic universals, and that's usually only with harder driving. HobbyPlus uses metal universals with a better fiber reinforced plastic on the CR-18 that would eliminate the breaking. It's a good cheap upgrade for these.

I'd say the RGT V2 transmission they are using has the second most gear reduction after the HobbyPlus CR-24/CR-18 which helps, but unfortunately it's at the transmission not the axles which puts stress on the universals.
I just wish you could gear these down more.

The HobbyPlus CR-24 transmission can use the Barrage 64t spur and a 9t pinion instead of the 54/12 combo and it makes a significant improvement on torque and throttle control even on 2s.

I'll probably still grab one of these instead of a second RGT V2 just to compare, but I feel they could have certainly done a little more without much effort.

The SCX24 runs a 2S battery. It would be nice if that would work with this.

So does the CR-18 uses 2s from the factory as well. Same motor and transmission available with the CR-24, I guess they felt the extra weight needs the power.
most of the 1s trucks work fine with 2s other than not having a lipo cutoff. IMO it's pretty easy to notice the voltage drop before lipo cutoff in most cases

I am really curious to see the frame rail on these. Guess I could go look at the RGT for an idea. Really though I'm curious if the wheelbase will shrink down to fit Revell bodies (and kyosho 4rn ;)). Something the straight rear of the axials seem more likely to do right now.

A few holes are different for the new front mount setup, but otherwise it's the same rails used on the ECX Barrage, RGT Adventurer V1, RGT V2, FTX Outback 1.0, and 3.0 which is the RGT V2/ Enduro.

Edited a previous post. It said the links were .8mm longer. They are 8mm longer which isn't bad. I'd personally like to the WB between the SCX24's @133ish and 135mm since the axles and tires are pretty perfect for 1/20 hard bodies.

the cr-18 uses 2s stock, but as the upgraded leccy pack as standard[88t motor]rather than the 55t on the cr-24

Looks like "negative" ackermann knuckles, which is a no-go. Why don`t they get this right?

Looks like positive ackermann to me.

Sadly not. When turning, the inner wheel is less angled than the outer wheel, which in turn results in an extrem "toe-in" arrangement of the wheels (fighting each other).

I understand ackermann, and how it works. The fact that the tie rod mount is INSIDE the king pin means the outer wheel will turn less than the inner wheel.

I got one for my son and he loves it to death. Not as refined as my SXC24 JLU but I would say a better stock rig with no upgrades in mind. Tires are great and CG is nice. SCX can perform better but needs tires and CG adjustment.

I grabbed one of these Enduro 24 Trailrunner’s as a loaner for friends that come over. It’s definitely got pluses and negatives. The stock tires are grippy but a tiny bit too small. The motor needs more power and more slow speed control. Has anyone figured out how to put a larger motor in yet? Furitek brushless or even a 050 brushed?

I would recomend getting a 2S battery before swapping out the motor. I put a 2S in mine and it transformed this little guy. Less than 20 bucks from local hobby shop, and no need to change out the esc .......so far
